Students were provided with the opportunity to begin their summer assignment before the end of the school year. Students in 6th and 7th grade had several options of prompts as to what to complete for this assignment. Each student was asked to choose one prompt and complete a drawing based on that. Students were also encouraged to create more pieces throughout the summer months but only one piece is required for this assignment. Here are some example of what 6th and 7th graders started prior to the end of the 2015-2016 school year. This is an in progress picture of what they accomplished before the start of summer.

Artist Biography
How do
artists tell their own stories? Students
were challenged to create an artist statement using few to no words. These
visual biographies are the culminating piece of their gifted Visual Arts
Program education. Each 8th grade student included information pertaining
to their artistic accomplishments, goals, biographical information, hopes and
dreams. These works of art tell their stories as young artists and their
aspirations for the future.
