Foreshortening Figure Drawing

Students in the 8th grade were challenged to a figure student assignment that combined foreshortening and their own personal life drawing skills.  Students took a position that demonstrated the art of foreshortening and photographed themselves in the pose before starting on their piece.  Students were encouraged to use a variety of medias as well as surface areas for this assignment.  This is what the 8th graders created.

Collograph Prints

Students were given the assignment to create a print based on a concept of their choosing.  Students created visual mind maps to represent their research of their chosen concept.  Students learned about the history and process of printmaking and, in particular, the art of collagraph printmaking.  Students used different crafts and recycled materials to construct their plates prior to printing.  Students then applied different colored inks, 2-D, and 3-D materials to their final editions.  Here is what 6th and 7th grade students created.
