Clay Houses

6th and 7th students were challenged to create a 3-D clay house.  Students had to choose a concept to work behind and did research on different artists that worked in clay or in their concept of choice.  Students started making sketches of different ideas that they would use for their structures. Ideas varied from actual architectural form to Dr. Seuss inspired houses to tree houses.  Students worked with the slab technique to construct their house and were encouraged to add embellishments to enhance their design.  Here's is what 6th and 7th graders came up with.
